My name is Catherine McGuire, but my best friend and sometimes lover calls me Kitty Cat. It's a name I've carried since shortly after we met in middle school. I hated it at first, but it grew on me, much like Allie grew on me.

I'm a private investigator. I've investigated some weird things over the years, so having the target of my investigation tell me she was a witch? Well, in my line of business, I've heard it all.

But maybe trying to steal from her wasn't such a great idea.

This is a lesbian urban fantasy novel of 100,000 words.

OMG! Awesome! Who would have thought a book about becoming a cat could be sooo neat. I had to have a tuna sandwich in the middle of the book. I loved it!

Kitty Cat edition by Robin Roseau Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

The first one third of the book was "normal". Kinda kinky, but okay. Then the world turned! I'm still working out whether or not I liked it. I read it all the way through, so that says something. I enjoy this author very much. She is not afraid to stretch!
A common response of many other reviewer to many of Robin's books is to wonder how could someone do this to another person and not be completely evil? To that I say that many characters especially in fantasy or sci-fi books have a different societal mores than 'normal' people. If you can accept that, then I believe that you can enjoy this book.
This is not a love story, no romance, not spicy sex but it's funny and adventurous and you never expect what's coming next. Catherine and Allison had been friends since childhood, co workers and lovers, Nyla is a powerful CEO, executive of a big company, their paths crossed one day, fate or destiny..... So buckle up...and prepare for the ride of your lives...An unexpected series of events that'll blow your mind....... I'll definitely recommend this book, extraordinary and clever....
Although many of the familiar Roseau plot elements are present in this story, it's not really typical- in fact I think it's part of a shift to more complex stories, as seen in most of his recent work such as My Soul to Play (which this does have quite a lot in common with), The Boss, and Pawn/Bishop. As you would expect, bad things happen to the protagonist/heroine/narrator Kitty. Very bad things really. But Roseau is ringing the changes a bit- in My Soul to Play the real trials happened to someone else instead of the narrator, in this one they happen to Kitty- but unlike the usual Roseau approach, while she doesn't necessarily deserve quite what happens to her, she's definitely not innocent in the whole affair.
I'd agree with some other reviewers that it's perhaps a bit longer than it needs to be- the main middle element felt like it went on too long, though there are good reasons for all the things there. Roseau doesn't edit a lot, but perhaps some of those parts could have been shortened somewhat.
I found it a lot less disturbing than Roseau often is, though I'm not sure why- perhaps because Kitty wasn't entirely innocent. As usual with Roseau, Kitty is a lot more forgiving than I think I would be.
Overall I really enjoyed it - perhaps not quite his best, but close, and an interesting variation in plot structure.
This is a strange, fun story that is different from anything that Robin Roseau has written before. I loved it! This novel had me laughing out loud more than once. I won't give anything away about the plot, so just buy it. You will like it. I did!
Not sure what 5 star reviewers are talking about. Different? This is exactly like most R.R. books. Main character gets abused by someone who is physically/mentally/(in this case magically) dominant, abuser loves main character (even though consistently abusing), main character gets angry, rebels, is abused even worse, eventually forgives, excuses and loves abuser, admits she actually enjoyed/appreciated/understands reason for abuse. Only thing different about this book is that the abuser didn't have a sexual relationship with main character. Boom. Same plot over and over. While some can be entertaining, and I have read some that are, many R.R. books are disturbing. This one was just plain bad.
I didn't totally dislike this one, but once you hit the halfway point you struggle to keep going. This might be my least liked book of this authors.
